Scholarships
The Theatre program at Valdosta State University offers scholarships to incoming students, whether they are of freshman or transfer standing. The amounts of the Golden Circle and Eberhardt Scholarships range from $900 to $1,500 for an academic year (the Jennett Scholarship and the Robinson Musical Theatre Scholarship are for $2,500 and $5,000 respectively) depending on the audition or interview, the financial need, and the scholastic credentials of the applicant. (Scholarships are not automatically renewed, but after their first year, students may apply for returning student scholarships.) Robin Robinson Musical Theatre Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to musical theatre students based on a combination of academic achievement and audition or portfolio presentation. Scholarship is selected by Theatre & Dance Faculty.
Kay M. Jennett Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to theatre majors based on a combination of academic achievement and audition or portfolio presentation. Scholarship is selected by Theatre & Dance Faculty.
Eberhardt Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to theatre majors based on a combination of academic achievement and audition or portfolio presentation. Scholarship is selected by Theatre & Dance Faculty.
Louise Sawyer Theatre Scholarship
This scholarship fund established in memory of Louise Sawyer is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in theatre arts. Scholarship is selected by Theatre & Dance Faculty.
Golden Circle Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to theatre majors based on a combination of academic achievement and audition or portfolio presentation. Scholarship is selected by Theatre & Dance Faculty.
Wesley Ren Christie Scholarship
This scholarship is provided for communication arts majors. High school seniors must have a combined SAT score of at least 1100. Applicants for this scholarship will be chosen on the basis of SAT or ACT scores, the academic average and standing in high school or junior college, and an original essay. Scholarship is selected by Communication Arts Faculty.
Linger Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was created to honor the memory of Bernard L. Linger and is awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in music, art, or communication arts. The recipient must have carried a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester during the year prior to application and must have maintained an overall 3.5 grade point average. This scholarship is renewable for up to three years if the student maintains a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and continues to major in music, art, or communication arts. Scholarship is selected by the College of the Arts committee.
Whitehead Scholarship
R.B. Whitehead Scholarship Provided from funds donated to the University by the late Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Whitehead of Valdosta. The Whiteheads were enthusiastic supporters of the University, donating money not only to scholarships but also to campus beautification. Selected by the VSU Office of Admissions.
Odum Scholarship
John and Gertrude Odum Scholarship Provided from funds donated to the University by the late John and Gertrude Odum. Mrs. Odum was a Professor of English at VSU for many years and a long-time supporter of academic excellence. Selected by the VSU Office of Admissions.
Honors Scholarships
Theatre and Dance majors who are Honors College participants may be eligible for Scholarships associated with the .
