While participating in the Graduate Assistant Interview Day you will have an opportunity to meet with current graduate assistants from the Divisions of Student Affairs and Student Success. You will learn about Valdosta State University’s strategic initiatives and how your assistantship will play a critical role in achieving student success. You will have the opportunity to interview on site for graduate assistantships in areas that meet your interests. Finally, you will have the opportunity to meet with Graduate School and Academic Department representatives to learn about admissions and program information for various graduate degree options.

What is a Graduate Assistantship?
Graduate Assistantships at Valdosta State University provide practical opportunities to conduct coordinator level work while pursuing a master’s degree. In the division of Student Affairs, you will develop strong interpersonal and professional skills by gaining experience beyond what a structured classroom can provide.

Graduate Assistant Opportunities
The Divisions of Student Affairs provides a variety of graduate assistantships a student can participate in during their time at Valdosta State University. With the guidance and supervision of a trained student affairs professional, professionalism, self-motivation, academic and personal balance, servant leadership, and responsibility, will all be skills that you develop through our program.

Qualifications
Our divisions seek candidates with relevant experiences in the positions for which they apply. A bachelor’s degree is required, experience in co-curricular activities and student leadership are preferred. Graduate assistants must be accepted to and enrolled full-time in a Valdosta State University graduate program. Applicants should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, word processing, and desktop publishing computer skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Being a professional, self-motivated individual with a balance between your academic and professional lives is key to successfully holding a graduate assistantship with Student Affairs and Student Success.
Annual Stipend: $8,000-10,000 | Graduate Assistants also receive Tuition Waiver | Graduate Assistants with Live-on positions in Housing receive Housing Fee Waiver
