The College of the Arts and the Department of Music offers the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Music Education degree. The M.A.T. is designed for individuals interested in initial certification.
Master of Arts in Teaching in Music Education (M.A.T.)
Successful completion of this program leads to initial Georgia Professional Standards Commission teaching certification at the T-5 Level. This is an on-campus program for applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree in music and are seeking P-12 teaching certification in Music for the state of Georgia. Two tracks are offered for the degree: choral/general and instrumental studies.
The M.A.T. in Music Education curriculum is 36 hours and offers tracks in both choral/general and instrumental studies. It culminates in a semester of full-time clinical practice in a public school.
