Engineering Studies Transfer Programs
- Total Credit Hours: 30
- Degree Format: Traditional
About this field
Engineers have the power to shape the future of the world. They design and build machines and other structures and use mathematical and scientific principles, technological tools and practical experience to solve real-world problems. Students with an engineering degree can choose from a wide variety of careers in specialized areas such as aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering and more.
The Valdosta State Difference
The engineering studies program at Valdosta State University is a two-year program in which students complete work toward a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, then transfer to a college that offers a four-year degree program. The university participates in the Regents’ Engineering Transfer Program, a partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology, and many students transfer to Georgia Tech upon completion of their studies at Valdosta State. Other students have transferred to engineering programs at Mercer University, University of Georgia, Southern Polytechnic State University, Auburn University, University of Florida and Florida State University. While on the Valdosta State campus, engineering studies students have access to state-of-the-art classrooms, computer hardware and software, a variety of audio-visual systems, lab equipment such as 3-D printers and more.
What You'll Learn
Engineering studies students focus on several core areas during their two years at Valdosta State, including mathematics, natural sciences, computer science, social sciences and humanities. Students also can choose from a variety of specialized engineering courses in areas such as dynamics and circuit analysis. Students who successfully complete the two-year program at Valdosta State are qualified to transfer as third-year students to an engineering program at a degree-granting institution.
