Craig Hawkins serves as Professor of Art/Drawing, Painting, and Foundations at VSU. He earned his B.F.A. from Valdosta State University. While at VSU, he spent a semester studying in Newcastle, England. He continued his studies at the University of Georgia, Lamar Dodd School of Art, where he earned an M.F.A in Drawing and Painting.
Craig has exhibited and published his work both nationally and internationally, and has participated in numerous group, solo, juried, and curated exhibitions across the nation and overseas including the national juried exhibition 2023 Contemporary Art Survey at the Lincoln Center in Colorado, Emmaus Road by Craig Hawkins, a solo show at Square Halo Gallery in Pennsylvania, Craig Hawkins, a solo show at the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Art in Florida, inclusion in New American Paintings, No. 160, South, inclusion in Juxtapoz Magazine n132 along with published work in Every Moment Holy Volume III by Douglas Kaine McKelvey, Rabbit Room Press, 2023, and Intruding Upon the Timeless: Meditations of Art, Faith, and Mystery by Gregory Wolfe, Square Halo Books, 2018. Mason Fine Art Gallery, Atlanta, GA has represented his work since 2007 and Anne Neilson Fine Art, Charlotte, NC represented his work from 2014 – 2021.
